Healthy Lifestyle
and the Homeschooler…
In my few short years of homeschooling and my 13+ years of being a mom, I have learned more things than I can even put into words! Including the importance of kid’s health.
When I was a new mom, I seriously fed my children anything and everything. Then, when a mystery food intolerance and other medical issues made their way into our home, I just knew something had to give. Kid’s health (and the health of my entire family) became my new priority!

Homeschool Moms
and all the Coffee…
While tackling kid’s health needs is important, keeping your own health in check is just as essential! As a working homeschool mom of 3, I’ve totally got my hands full sometimes! This means I can easily stress myself out, make poor health choices, and so begins the never ending cycle of low energy all over again!
Power coffee seriously changed my life, you guys… and these recipes? So, so simple!
I once drank coffee like I would breath air… constantly.
Now?
A single cup will do!
If you’re struggling with low energy and find yourself downing coffee all day long, (like I was) check out my favorite secret weapon(s)!

How to Focus on Your Kid’s Health
While Homeschooling…
Life is already crazy busy and when you add homeschooling to the mix, it seems to get even crazier!
Not even kidding, you guys!!
If you don’t make the time for healthy habits in your homeschool, they won’t be there. Plain and simple!
Nutritionists and personal trainers don’t just come knocking on front doors offering their services for free.
Would be totally nice though, right?
That’s why it’s essential for us, as homeschool moms, to be the biggest advocates for our kid’s health! If we don’t teach them and put up a little fight when it comes to the food they consume and beauty products they apply, who will??
Healthy Kids
in 3 easy steps…
There are 3 different areas of healthy living that I consider absolutely crucial to the healthy homeschool lifestyle. Sometimes just the slightest adjustment or tweak in 1 or 2 of these areas can make a tremendous difference in your life!
#3 Physical Activity
This one can be super tough!
Our first year of homeschooling I had one child enrolled in a virtual online school, one child in a physical private school, and a rambunctious 2 year old running around at home! I was in over my head to say the least and exercise was literally the last thing on my mind!
Little did I know that this homeschool thing can actually work a million times better if I just let my kids run off some of their built up energy each day!
Working out not only encourages them to stay healthy and fit, but it can also help children that suffer from focus issues. My oldest son struggles with staying focused and my middle child can’t even begin to get focused if he hasn’t moved around a little bit.
A simple 5-10 minute workout to get their blood pumping in the morning definitely does the trick.

#2 Essential Oils
This! 1,000 times this!!
Our life has changed dramatically since making the switch from conventional medicines and every day products, to using essential oils.
I’m talking night and day here people. This stuff has been a huge game changer for us!
If you haven’t jumped on the essential oil bandwagon, that’s totally ok! I highly suggest you at least give them a shot before completely dismissing their value. Seriously though!
Still skeptical, but curious what makes Young Living so great? I encourage you to take a peek at Young Living Essential Oils and Their Uses to learn what sets these oils apart from the others on the market!
Our family went from sick all winter, to barely a cough or sneeze all year! I had sit down and really think hard to remember the last time someone in our house wasn’t feeling well. To be completely honest you guys, I can’t even remember!
Our overall health has improved drastically since we started depending on Young Living products for all our health and beauty needs!
#1 Healthy diet
I can’t stress the importance of this enough! If you can’t find the extra time, or energy to workout and you’ve already decided EO (essential oils) aren’t for you, this one is a complete MUST when it comes to your kid’s health!
Kids can’t focus if they are bouncing off the walls from their high sugar intake and mom certainly can’t keep up with the hyper kids if she isn’t hydrated properly. It’s a vicious cycle that doesn’t end, unless you force it to!
I’m not perfect by any means. I am, and will always be a huge work in progress! However, I do see the benefits that healthy living has had on our personal homeschool journey! When I have children choosing water over soda and veggies over deep fried chicken nuggets, I count that as a huge win in my book!
Making sure your kids are eating right, staying active, using products that are chemicals free, all while still meeting your own needs is super tough stuff! However, it’s totally worth it in the end!
As homeschool moms, we all want the same end result – healthy children that practice good habits!
Providing a healthy diet is the foundation for that!
With that said, life is busy and we still totally splurge from time to time. We enjoy take out on occasion and my kids still have random pieces of candy or ice-cream. However, moderation is key!
Sticking to the essentials of fruits, veggies, lean proteins, grains… ect and only allowing those extras in on occasion will benefit your kids in the long run.
Time To Make Healthy Changes
for Your Homeschool…
Just remember, kids learn from example! If mom is constantly drinking sugary drinks and snacking on chips, the kids will expect the same. I’ve recently focused more on my water intake, just making sure I’m staying fully hydrated throughout the day and counting my cups. My 5 year old daughter copies my every move in this journey, then proudly announces “I’ve finished my second cup!” to everyone in the house.
Did You Know?
As women, we need around 11 cups of water a day to stay hydrated? Neither did I!
After some much needed research, I quickly found out that I wasn’t drinking nearly enough water on a daily basis! Because of this newfound revelation, I began tracking my personal health needs in a journal.
