Usborne Books and More
Illustrated Stories Series…

Illustrated Stories by Charles DickensThe “Illustrated Stories” book series by Usborne Books & More is a fun collection of chapter books for older children. These classic stories are not only fun to read, but also have beautiful illustrations throughout each title. If you’re in the market for thick, durable, chapter readers for your mid-older elementary aged children, this could be the perfect book series!

With multiple different titles available, you are sure to find the perfect book for your avid reader.

Not sure these illustrated stories are the right fit for your child? No problem! The recommended age for Usborne’s Illustrated Stories collection is 8+.

Great for Intermediate & Advanced Readers
Not the Best Fit for New Readers…

These books are not meant for younger children that are still learning to read simply because the ideal age range is for children over 8. With age (and maturity) in mind, these books are sure to make a great companion for your independent readers!

With that said, if you do want to introduce these titles to your new readers, try adding them into your homeschool morning basket as a read aloud or introduce them to younger children as part of a simplistic bedtime routine!

Not sure how to use illustrated stories as a read aloud in your homeschool? Try these simple tips!

  • Have older children (tweens & teens are perfect for this) read to younger siblings for 15 minutes each afternoon. Giving mom a chance to work on something, start dinner, or throw a load of laundry into the wash!
  • Spend time as a homeschool unit and read the titles together in your homeschool morning basket.
  • Practice using illustrated stories as a read aloud during your Homeschool Looping time once a week!
  • Read a short story with one child over the course of a week, doing the same with another child the following week!

Illustrated Adventure StoriesMy older boys throughout enjoy this concept. They love to pick a random story from one of these books and read it to me a little each day over the course of a week. It’s a fun little activity for us all to partake in. Plus, they are reading out loud! Win-Win!

You can easily encourage your children to read daily using any number of these titles!
